ESPARGARÓ, VIÑALES, AND SAVADORI, IN HIS FOURTH WILD CARD OF THE SEASON, READY FOR THE AUSTRIAN GP
Aprilia Racing is ready for the challenge in Styria for the eleventh GP of the season, scheduled for this weekend. Present at the track will be Aleix Espargaró, fresh from his podium in the Silverstone sprint race, Maverick Viñales, and Lorenzo Savadori, in his fourth wild card of the season.
Aleix Espargaró is keen to confirm his grand form after the Silverstone weekend where he performed brilliantly, taking a record pole position, an outstanding third place in the Sprint Race, and the fastest lap in the race. On the other side of the garage, Maverick Viñales is determined to achieve good results after a complicated weekend in Silverstone. Lorenzo Savadori is also back in action for his fourth wild card of the season, after the injury sustained in the Assen sprint race, where he suffered multiple fractures to the lumbar vertebrae.
The Red Bull Ring, previously known as the Österreichring, is a historic circuit in Austria, specifically in the Styria region. The track is 4.35 km long and has 10 turns, with a difference of 65 metres between the highest and lowest points. From 2022, in order to increase safety, a chicane was added to turn 2, thereby differentiating the layout from the one used in Formula 1.
ALEIX ESPARGARÓ
"It's not one of my favourite circuits, as it's a stop-and-go track that doesn't suit my riding style very much. However, I enjoy challenges and that's how I'll approach this weekend. I can’t wait to be back on track. Let's see if we can perform well, because good results on difficult tracks count twice".
MAVERICK VIÑALES
“The Ring is a nice track. In the past we had struggled there, but last year I had a good result, especially in qualifying, where I started from the second spot on the grid. I am ready to give one hundred percent to try and find what we were missing in Silverstone so we can improve our level and get back to the top.”
LORENZO SAVADORI
“I can’t wait to get back to racing. I’m still not at 100% physical fitness, but I have made progress. I’ll be racing with a laboratory bike and we’ll be trying several upgrades. There will be plenty of work to do, including for the future.”
