ALEIX AND HIS APRILIA SHINE ON FRENCH SOIL AS WELL

IT’S ANOTHER FRONT ROW FOR ESPARGARÓ, HIS THIRD CONSECUTIVE

MAVERICK VIÑALES STOPS JUST A FEW THOUSANDTHS SHORT IN THE ONCE AGAIN DECISIVE FP3

The tracks change, but not Aleix Espargaró’s graceful form and his continuously growing harmony with the Aprilia RS-GP, thanks to the latest upgrades brought to the race from the Noale factory. On the epic Le Mans track, Aleix was a key player on yet another grand day that once again places him on the front row for the race tomorrow. Consistently with the best throughout all the sessions, Aleix turned an outstanding lap at just the right time in the decisive Q2 qualifiers which, with a time of 1’30.609, earned him the third spot on the starting grid.

Things did not go quite as well for Maverick Viñales who, despite being in the midst of a process of adaptation to the RS-GP, continues to demonstrate good speed. However, even in Le Mans, his qualifying day was conditioned by missing out on a spot in the top ten, which would have sent him straight through to Q2. Maverick came just 21 thousandths of a second shy in the decisive FP3 practice session. Then, in the first qualifying session, he finished in fourth place, which places him on the fifth row of the starting grid.

ALEIX ESPARGARÓ
"I honestly couldn’t have expected more. From my point of view, the last two laps were perfect. I’m losing a bit in the final sector of the track, which is the one I like the least, but as for everything else, we did an outstanding job. I must thank my team because over these two days, they modified the RS-GP to place me in the best conditions and with the crash in FP4, I gave them a bit of extra work! For tomorrow, I’m obviously hoping for a dry race, but Le Mans is always unpredictable, so we’ll give it our all in any case."

MAVERICK VIÑALES
"Overall, it was a good day, because as we continued working, we found some solutions to improve my feeling with the RS-GP. It is still hard for me to get the most out of the time attack, when you need to push a bit more, although I should point out that my good lap today was voided by the yellow flag. The fact that I have a good pace is positive but starting farther forward would definitely help us."
