THREE APRILIAS ON THE TRACK AGAIN IN JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA

ALEIX, MAVERICK E LORENZO READY TO TACKLE THE GP OF SPAIN

From Portugal, MotoGP heads directly to Spain, where the GP of the same name will be held on the historic Jerez de la Frontera track.
Aprilia will arrive encouraged by good form that is more important now than ever before. The Italian manufacturer is third in the overall rider championship with Aleix Espargaró and second in the overall team standings. This is the result of a solid season start, already enhanced by a win and a podium taken by Aleix Espargaró, down to an increasingly better synergy between the rider from Granollers and the new RS-GP 2022.

It is a project which has also demonstrated encouraging signs of competitiveness in the hands of Maverick Viñales, although his full potential has yet to be achieved in the race. A friendly track like Jerez could help Maverick as he continues to adapt, striving to reach a turning point especially when it comes to improving in the qualifying stages.

Lorenzo Savadori’s work will also continue in Spain as the Aprilia Racing tester will be working on development of the RS-GP in the Jerez race, as he did during the Portimão weekend, testing upgrades and changes on the track in view of developing the Aprilia MotoGP project.

ALEIX ESPARGARÓ
"Despite the situation in the standings which is new for me and for Aprilia, I am not feeling any pressure. To the contrary, knowing that I have a competitive bike gives me peace of mind. As for the championship, it shouldn’t be an obsession but an opportunity that we need to be skilful enough to seize. I have no doubt that we’ll be able to be fast in Jerez too, on a track where I have always felt good."

MAVERICK VIÑALES
"We still haven’t managed to express our full potential. I know that our level is better than what we have demonstrated up to now. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, that final step has always eluded us. The configuration of Jerez de la Frontera could give us a hand but obviously it’s up to us to improve, especially in qualifying, a condition that makes the first part of the race hard for us."

LORENZO SAVADORI
"Our goal in Jerez is the same. As we did in Portugal, we’ll continue the job of developing the RS-GP, testing new solutions and collecting useful data. The growth of our project is clear but, given how competitive the championship is, it’s important to never stop pushing to improve."
