After two extraordinarily successful seasons, the Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance Trophy – the single-brand championship dedicated to pairs of riders astride the easy and fun Moto Guzzi V7 III – grows even more, going beyond the borders to become a European Cup.

In the year when the Moto Guzzi centennial is being celebrated, the Trophy that took the legendary bike from Mandello back to racing two years ago takes on an international dimension. This is the demonstration of the high interest the Trophy was able to pique, thanks to an excellent formula, that interprets racing as a time of friendship and fun.

The 2021 Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance European Cup, a true European cup, recognised by the FIM, Federazione Motociclistica Internazionale (International Motorcycling Federation), will reproduce the same ingredients that allowed a vast number of riders – some in their first experience on the track – to put themselves to the test with real races, breathing in the racing atmosphere of days gone by with a youthful and carefree spirit.

An easy and accessible competition, truly suited for all, thanks to the features of the lightweight “seven-fifty” from Mandello, the Moto Guzzi V7 III, outfitted with the GCorse Racing Kit and Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp RS tyres.

The 2021 Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance European Cup calendar was designed with the goal of holding each and every round in complete safety, in full observance of the Covid-19 anti-contagion standards.

This is why the season will begin in the late spring, on 22 May, in Varano, and there will once again be a double-race solution like the one adopted last year to reduce the number of transfers. This increases the number of “mini-endurance” races from five to six this year, scheduled to be held over four weekends.

The opening round of Varano (22 and 23 May) will be a double race, followed by the Vallelunga round on 4 July (single race), another double-race weekend in Magione on 28 and 29 August and the grand finale in Misano, with a single race, on 10 October.

On the single-race weekends, in Vallelunga and Misano, the “mini-endurance” will once again be extended to 90 minutes. So, each race weekend promises lots of time astride the Moto Guzzi V7 III bikes, all to the advantage of great fun. This is a format that rewards the teamwork of the two riders more and more, in line with the “guzzista” way of interpreting racing, therefore placing priority on friendship and team spirit.

Registration is open from now through 11 April for the entire championship at the discounted cost of €1,250 per Team (which works out to just over €100 per rider per race). Alternatively, you can register for the individual rounds up to two weeks prior at the cost of €350 per Team for single-race weekends and €450 per Team for the double-race weekends.

A tried and true Racing Kit, developed by the Guareschis

About to be replaced on the market by the new 850 cc Moto Guzzi V7, the best-seller Moto Guzzi V7 III – a highly popular bike with an extremely wide spectrum of riders thanks to its agility and easy ride – will once again be the protagonist in the 2021 edition of the Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance.

This is a choice of continuity that will allow an extremely tried and true technical package to be used, made up of the combination of the small “seven-fifty” from Mandello and the GCorse Racing Kit dedicated to it and developed by the Guareschi brothers, very popular Moto Guzzi tuners in the sport segment as well.

This has allowed us to create an easy and fun bike that can be used on the track even by those who do not have any racing experience, whilst at the same time achieving an outstanding and unexpected level of reliability and performance on every circuit where the first two editions of the Trophy were raced. In addition to safety devices, including, for example, undersump and front brake lever protection, the Kit – compulsory and obviously the same for everyone – includes a package of functional and aesthetic mods. These include the top fairing, semi-handlebars, complete exhaust system, raised footpegs, side panels, single-seat saddle and rear mudguard, racing number plates, front suspension cartridges kit and rear shock absorbers. Completing the equipment package are specific ECU engine mapping and a larger front brake disc, combined with dedicated brake pads.

The cost of the complete kit, which can be purchased at the Guareschi Moto dealership, is €3,840 (plus VAT). The kit can be installed autonomously or handled directly by Guareschi Moto.

The collaboration with Pirelli is also confirmed for 2021, sole supplier of the single-brand series. All the V7 III bikes on the starting grid will be shod with the Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp RS, a racing tyre developed specifically for the Moto Guzzi V7 III which provide outstanding performance in all conditions.

Participating in the Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance European Cup is the most fun way to discover your competitive side and get a taste of that great feeling of belonging that the Moto Guzzi brand generates: in full “guzzista” style, the race weekends will be a time of sporting competition in a highly engaging atmosphere. A weekend to experience, fostering those feelings of friendship and sharing which have always characterised healthy sport disciplines, representing their deepest meaning. The race format and the choice of the V7 III make the Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance perfect for everyone to have a great time, from the track novice to the most seasoned enthusiast.

Each race weekend includes two timed practice sessions, both lasting 20 minutes for each rider. The average of the best times achieved by the two riders on the team determines the team’s starting position for the race or for both races, in the event of a double-race weekend.

A clear throwback to the legendary endurance races of times gone by is the race start, which takes place in “Le Mans” style, in other words, with the bikes lined up on one side of the track and the riders who must cross the track from the other side at the start to get in the saddle and set off.

In the race, each rider has a 15-minute time limit on the bike (plus 5 minutes to get back to pit lane once the “change” board comes out): this means that the event is livened up by at least three or five rider changes on pit lane, depending on whether it is a 60 or 90 minute race. Refuelling is not permitted. At the end of the race, points are assigned to the top 15 teams.
